Improvement of Organic Thin-film Transistors by Adopting the Self-assembled Monolayer of Thiol Compound
Kitamura et al. have improved organic thin-film transistors (TFTs) by forming the self-assembled monolayer (SAM) of 4-(dimethylamino)benzenethiol on the Au surface of drain/source electrodes in C60 n-channel TFTs. It has been reported that the threshold voltage shifts to a low voltage in comparison with that of non-modified electrodes, because the modification reduces electron-injection barrier height. The work function of the modified electrode surface decreases, and the current-gain cutoff frequency has been improved.
