Application
Abafungin: A Thiazole Type Antifungal Agent with a Novel Mechanism of Action
Abafungin is a broad-spectrum thiazole type antifungal agent with a novel mechanism of action. Mode of action studies suggested that inhibits the enzyme sterol-C-24-methyltransferase which catalyzes the transmethylation at the C-24 position of the sterol side chain. In addition, abafungin directly impairs the fungal cell membrane.
