TCI is at the forefront of offering high-quality materials for R&D. This issue covers our materials science topics as follows:
- Pillar-Shaped Macrocycles: Pillararenes
- Photoinitiator for Three-Dimensional Printing
- Electron Transport Material for OLED: 3TPYMB
- Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs)

Pillar-Shaped Macrocycles: Pillararenes
Dimethoxypillar[5]arene [D4471] and diethoxypillar[6]arene [D6095] are symmetric pillar-shaped cyclic compounds which can capture different molecules due to their different size of internal cavities (D4471: 0.47 nm, D6095: 0.67 nm). The derivatives produced by chemical modification in alkoxy groups are applicable to battery electrodes, supramolecular chemistry and host-guest chemistry such as biosensors.
Photoinitiator for Three-Dimensional Printing
DPTBP [D3358] is a photoinitiator that generates radicals by the activation of not only UV but also visible light sources (up to 420 nm). It has the advantage of being almost colorless due to its narrow absorption region in visible light. These features help in manufacturing transparent 3D objects through stereolithography printing. For instance, it has been reported that DPTBP/PETA/HDODA mixed light-curable resin using pentaerythritol tetraacrylate (= PETA) and 1,6-hexanediol diacrylate (= HDODA) as monomers have both excellent mechanical properties and transparency.
Electron Transport Material for OLED: 3TPYMB
3TPYMB [T4079] is an organoboran compound highly-purified by sublimation, and has been reported to be usable as an electron transport and hole blocking material in organic light-emitting diodes (OLED). 3TPYMB has high triplet excited energy level (2.95 eV) and high electron affinity (3.32 eV).
Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs)
Some polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) have restrictions of contents in products because of their carcinogenicity. For example, REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) in EU regulates 8 PAH compounds. In our catalog, TCI offers high purity PAHs that can be used for both product analysis and environmental analysis.Upcoming Events
