Eprosartan mesylate: A Long-Lasting and Selective Angiotensin II Subtype 1 (AT1) Receptor Antagonist (Saltan)
Eprosartan mesylate (SKF 108566) is a potent, long-lasting and non-peptide selective angiotensin II subtype 1 (AT1) receptor antagonist (Saltan). Blocking of the AT1 receptor by a saltan (e.g. valsartan [V0112], irbesartan [I0859], eprosartan mesylate [E1161] and losartan potassium [L0232]) suppresses the action of angiotensin II which increases blood pressure in various ways. Eprosartan is not metabolized by the cytochrome P 450 system and therefore has a low potential for drug interactions. Eprosartan mesylate is used in the treatment of hypertension. (The product is for research purpose only.)
