TCI Chemistry News April 2022
TCI offers an extensive catalog of 31,000 high quality organic reagents suitable for benchtop-to-bulk chemistry. This issue covers our chemistry topics as follows.

p-Methoxyphenyl (MP) Glycosides with a Stable and Easily Removable Protecting Group

p-Methoxyphenyl (MP) Glycosides with a Stable and Easily Removable Protecting Group

Protecting groups at the anomeric position in the chemical synthesis of sugar chains require stability to reaction conditions such as glycosidation and selective deprotection capability for inducing glycosyl donors. The p-methoxyphenyl (MP) group is suitable for the requirements and is widely used for sugar chain synthesis. The deprotection of MP glycosides by ammonium cerium(IV) nitrate gives the 1-OH form, which can be induced to the following glycosyl fluorides and glycosyl imidates. In addition, MP glycosides can be converted into glycosyl halides and thioglycosides in one step.
Cobalt Catalyst for the [2+2+2] Cycloaddition Reactions

Cobalt Catalyst for the [2+2+2] Cycloaddition Reactions

Cyclopentadienyl(dimethyl fumarate)(triethyl phosphite)cobalt(I) [C3165] is an air stable and reusable cobalt catalyst. It has been reported that C3165 is applicable to [2+2+2] cycloaddition reactions and enables the formation of pyridine rings. For example, [2+2+2] cycloaddition proceeds to form a pyridine ring by heating a diyne and a nitrile by microwave irradiation in the presence of catalytic amount of C3165. In addition, C3165 is more reactive than CpCo(CO)2, a general-purpose cobalt catalyst, so that it can be used for the synthesis of benzene rings using triynes as substrates.
Difluoromethylation of Phenols Using Diethyl (Bromodifluoromethyl)phosphonate

TCI Practical Example: Difluoromethylation of Phenols Using Diethyl (Bromodifluoromethyl)phosphonate

We are proud to present the difluoromethylation of 2-acetylphenol using diethyl (bromodifluoromethyl)phosphonate [D3071] as a difluorocarbene precursor. TCI has more difluoromethylation reagents for your research.
Diborylation of Alkynes with a Platinum Catalyst

TCI Practical Example: Diborylation of Alkynes with a Platinum Catalyst

TCI introduces the diborylation reaction to diphenylacetylene with bis(pinacolato)diboron using Pt(PPh3)4 [T2485] as a catalyst. The reaction report is actually performed by TCI's synthesis staff. You can see not only the reaction procedure but also the comment and analysis data from our staff.
