Application
Phlorizin: A Sodium Glucose Co-Transporter Inhibitor (SGLT)

Phlorizin is a 2'-O-glucoside of phloretin [P1966], first isolated from the bark of apple trees. Phlorizin’s principal pharmacological action is to reduce plasma glucose levels by blocking renal and intestinal glucose absorption through inhibition of sodium glucose co-transporters (SGLTs). Consequently, phlorizin has been used as a pharmaceutical tool for research of antidiabetic agent.
