Description
The AOL is a carbohydrate-binding protein (Lectin) derived from Aspergillus oryzae. The AOL gene product is expressed in Aspergillus oryzae. (The gene is derived from the same origin as the host cell.) This lectin preferably binds to a [Fucα(1-6)/α(1-4)/α(1-3)/α(1-2)] glycan epitopes.
Biotin is covalently linked to the protein surface. Resulting band shift caused by biotinylation is checked by SDS-PAGE. (Unbiotinylated band is mostly not observed.) The AOL-Biotin Conjugate shows significant interaction with human lactoferrin (hLF) possessing [Fucα(1-6)/α(1-3)] glycan epitopes by lectin-ELISA analysis. According to the lectin-blotting analysis, the AOL-Biotin Conjugate specifically binds to α(1-6/1-3)Fucsylated hLF but not to unfucosylated glycoproteins such as human transferrin (hTF), asialo hTF, agalacto hTF and bovine RNase B.
