Application
Mefenamic Acid: A Non-Selective Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID)
Mefenamic acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with strong analgesic activity. It is a non-selective cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibitor. COX directs the formation of several key mediators of inflammation called prostaglandins. Thus, mefenamic acid reduces the synthesis of prostaglandins. Mefenamic acid is metabolized principally by CYP2C9. Recently, some unique biological properties of mefenamic acid have also been reported. (The product is for research purpose only.)
