Application
Flavokawain A: An Apoptosis Inducing Agent
Flavokawain A, a major 2'-hydroxy-chalcone derived from kava plant extract, has recently demonstrated promising anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory activities. Some studies have shown that flavokawain A decreases cyclin-dependent kinase-2 (CDK2) inducing G2/M arrest in vitro, and then it has antiproliferative and apoptotic effects in cancer cells. In addition, it has been reported that flavokawain A suppresses expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). (The product is for research purpose only.)
