Application
N-Formylation Reaction

Typical Procedure:
A solution of amine 1 (1.42 g, 3.86 mmol) in THF (84 mL) is treated with 1H-benzotriazole-1-carboxaldehyde (738 mg, 5.02 mmol). The mixture is stirred for 20 h at rt then 2N NaOH aqueous solution is added. The solution is stirred for 15 min at rt then water is added and THF is removed under reduced pressure. The aqueous phase is extracted with dichloromethane, and the combined organic layer is dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue is purified by silica gel flash chromatography (Hexane → Hexane : AcOEt = 3 : 2) to give 2 (1.02 g, Y. 67%) as a colorless oil.
