Application
Arglabin: A Natural NLRP3 Inhibitor
Arglabin, a sesquiterpene γ-lactone, is originally extracted from Artemisia glabella, and also is found in Artemisia myiantha (a species of wormwood) which is a plant commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine.1,2) Arglabin and its derivatives have been reported as NLR family pyrin domain-containing protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome inhibitors which show anti-inflammatory antitumor, and antiviral (including anti-SARS-CoV-2) activities.2-5) The antitumor activity of arglabin proceeds through its inhibition of farnesyl transferase which leads to the activation of RAS proto-oncogene.2) (The product is for research purpose only.)
