Application
Peimine: A Bioactive Alkaloid with Antitussive, Expectorant and Anti-Inflammatory Activities
Peimine (verticine) and peiminine (verticinone) [P2609] are major active alkaloids isolated from the bulbs of Fritillaria ussuriensis, which is an Asian species of herbaceous plant in the lily family and a commonly used antitussive traditional Chinese medicinal (TCM) herb.1,2) It has been reported that peimine and peiminine also exhibit potent antitussive, expectorant and anti-inflammatory effects.3,4) In addition, peimine inhibits telomerase activity and thus may act as an antitumor agent.5) (The product is for research purpose only.)
