N,N-Dimethylguanosine: a modified ribonucleoside in tRNA and rRNA
N,N-Dimethylguanosine (N2,N2-dimethylguanosine, m22G) is a modified ribonucleoside that has long been known to present in tRNA and rRNA. Recent studies have discovered that N,N-dimethylguanosine is a prevalent RNA modification in eukaryotes and has roles in cell viability and development through these effects to RNA as follows; RNA stability and RNA structure.1-3) In addition, there are reports that the levels of modified nucleosides, including N,N-dimethylguanosine, have served as potential biomarkers for cancer and various diseases in many studies.4,5)
