Application
Trifluoroacetylation of Amines
[Experimental procedure]
A solution of 2-phenylethylamine (0.61 g, 5.0 mmol) and (trifluoroacetyl)benzotriazole (1.18 g, 5.5 mmol) in THF (dried, 20 mL) is stirred at room temperature for 4 hours. Then the mixture is diluted with ethyl acetate (20 mL) and washed with aqueous 2 N sodium hydroxide solution (2 x 15 mL). The aqueous layers are extracted with ethyl acetate (20 mL). The combined organic layers are dried over sodium sulfate. After the removal of organic solvent, the crude product is obtained in quantitative yield.
