Application
Beclomethasone Dipropionate: A Prodrug with Weak Glucocorticoid Receptor Binding Affinity
Beclomethasone dipropionate (BDP), a synthetic ant-inflammatory glucocorticoid and corticosteroid, is a prodrug with weak glucocorticoid receptor binding affinity. BDP is hydrolyzed with esterase enzymes to an active metabolite beclomethasone 17-monopropionate and minor inactive metabolites, beclomethasone 21-monopropionate and beclomethasone. BDP is freely soluble in acetone and ethanol, soluble in chloroform, and very slightly soluble in water. BDP is used for treatment of asthma and rhinitis. (The product is for research purpose only.)
