Supplemental Product Information:

Previously this product had been labeled as a hydrate form both in product name and molecular formula. The hydrate form had no exclusive CAS RN and used to share the same CAS RN as the anhydrous form.
To avoid any misleading information and since moisture in product is considered as an impurity, we have decided to remove the term 'Hydrate' from product name and 'xH2O' from the molecular formula for such products.
Please use it at ease since there is no difference in product quality, even if you see the previous indications on a part of label.

Application
Acarbose: α-Glucosidase Inhibitor

Acarbose, a complex oligosaccharide, is obtained from fermentation processes of a microorganism, Actinoplanes utahensis. Acarbose acts by competitive and reversible inhibition of intestinal α-glucosidases and α-amylase which are enzymes responsible for the metabolite of complex carbohydrates into absorbable monosaccharide units. This action delays the digestion of ingested carbohydrates, thereby resulting in a smaller rise in blood glucose concentration following meals. In contrast to sulfonylureas, acarbose does not enhance insulin secretion. Acarbose is used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. (The product is for research purpose only.)
