Yoshida等曾报道了利用苯炔（由2-(trimethylsilyl)phenyl trifluoromethanesulfonate和KF制备），DMF和活性亚甲基化合物的新型三组分偶联反应来直接生成香豆素。他们表明由苯炔和DMF通过缩甲醛[2+2]环加成反应生成的邻亚甲基苯醌，经过与烯醇化酯或烯酮亚胺阴离子进行[4+2]环加成反应后可以生成香豆素，其是一类重要的生物活性化合物。
