A Dopamine D3 Receptor Agonist, Pramipexole
Pramipexole [P2879] and its dihydrochloride are non-ergot dopamine agonists with high relative specificity and full intrinsic activity at the D2 subfamily (D2, D3, D4) of dopamine receptors. The affinity for the D3 receptor subtype is the highest. Specifically, pramipexoles have selective affinity for the D2 subfamily (D2, D3, D4), with a 7-10 fold greater affinity for D3 than for D2 receptor subtypes; affinity for the D4 receptor subtype is 17-fold less than for D3 receptors. In clinical, the dihydrochloride is used for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. Although the precise mechanism of action is unknown, it is believed to be related to its ability to stimulate dopamine receptors in the striatum. (The product is for research purpose only.)
