Clozapine N-oxide is a major and pharmacologically inert metabolite of clozapine [C2547], a dibenzodiazepine "atypical" antipsychotic agent.1,2) Recently, clozapine N-oxide has received attention as a selective activator of designer receptors exclusively activated by designer drugs (DREADDs), a series of engineered muscarinic acetylcholine receptors (mAChRs) that respond exclusively to the synthetic ligand clozapine N-oxide.3-5) (The product is for research purpose only.)
