Photo-Cross-Linker Having Benzophenone
N-Succinimidyl 4-benzoylbenzoate is a cross-linker containing an N-succinimidyl group and a photoreactive benzophenone group. This compound can attach to amino groups easily through the N-succinimidyl group. The benzophenone group reacts with a near substrate to form covalent bonding when it is photoexcited. For example, Lightowlers et al. have reported that this compound is introduced into a peptide nucleic acid (PNA) oligomer by reacting the N-succinimidyl group to PNA’s N-terminal, and links to a DNA oligomer matched with PNA oligomer after hybridization and UV irradiation. Besides this, it has been reported that peptides and proteins are photo-cross-linked to antibodies etc., so this compound is useful as a bioconjugation linker.
