Application
An Acyclic Nucleotide Analog with Activity against DNA virus
Adefovir (9-(2-phosphonylmethoxyethyl)adenine) is an acyclic nucleotide analog with activity against DNA virus such as human hepatitis B virus (HBV), and an active metabolite of adefovir dipivoxil [A2414] which was developed for clinical use.1) There are reports that adefovir inhibits HBV DNA polymerase (reverse transcriptase) by competing with the natural substrate deoxyadenosine triphosphate and by causing DNA chain termination after its incorporation into viral DNA.2-5) (The product is for research purpose only.)
