Application
Hesperidin: A Flavonoid Compound with Various Physiological Activities
Hesperidin is a flavonoid compound abundantly occulting in citrus fruit peel, and is known as an effective ingredient crud drug (Citrus Unshiu Peel) due to its various physiological functions since long time, such as antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.1,2) The citrus flavanones hesperidin, neohesperidin [N1121], hesperetin [H0721] and naringin [N0073] are known to exhibit antioxidant activities and could cross the blood-brain barrier, and they reportedly have neuroprotective effects against reactive oxygen species (ROS).3) Furthermore, hesperidin is one of the substances like vitamin P and well known to decrease capillary fragility and permeability.1) In addition, it has been reported that hesperidin reduces the proliferation of many cancer cells.4,5) (The product is for research purpose only.)
