Application
Limonin: A Chemically-Induced Carcinogenesis Inhibitor and a HIV-1 Replication Inhibitor
Limonin is a non-volatile triterpeneis which is one of two major bitter principles in citrus juice, especially in grapefruit juice. Limonin has been found to inhibit chemical induced carcinogenesis. Limonin is an inducer of glutathione S-transferase, a major detoxifying enzyme system. Additionally, limonin has been reported to inhibit in vitro HIV-1 protease activity.
