Organocatalyst for the Oxidative Homocoupling of Grignard Reagents

Experimental procedure:A flame-dried flask is flushed with argon and charged with 1 (60.8 mg, 0.1 mmol, 10 mol%) and THF (1.0 mL) at room temperature. Then, the Grignard reagent (1.0 mmol) is added and the solution is exposed to dry air immediately. The reaction mixture is stirred at an appropriate temperature for 6 - 12 h in dry air. The reaction mixture is quenched with saturated aqueous NH4Cl solution, and extracted with EtOAc. The organic layer is dried with Na2SO4 and concentrated under reduced pressure. The resulting mixture is purified by silica gel column chromatography to give the corresponding product.
