Application
Palmitoylethanolamide: A Lipid-Signaling Molecule with Anti-Inflammatory Properties Mediated by PPARα
Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA), an endogenous fatty acid amide, belongs to N-acylethanolamines (NAEs) which are an important family of lipid-signaling molecules such as an endogenous cannabinoid receptor agonist; arachidonylethanolamide (anandamide) (AEA), and a modulator of appetite; oleoylethanolamide (OEA).1,2) Palmitoylethanolamide reportedly has anti-inflammatory properties mediated by peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-alpha (PPARα).2-4)
