Application
Phosphonium Salt as a Catalyst of Carbon Dioxide Fixation Reaction
Experimental procedure: A high-pressure stainless-steel autoclave is charged with epoxide (35.7 mmol),
(2-carboxyethyl)triphenylphosphonium bromide (0.5 mol%) and an appropriate amount of biphenyl (as internal standard for GC analysis). After the reactor is fed with CO2 to 2.5 MPa, the autoclave with its contents is heated to 130 °C and stirred for a designated period of time. Then the reactor is cooled to 0 °C in an ice-water bath, and the remaining CO2 is released. The product is quantitatively analyzed on a GC.
