Application
Oridonin: An Active Diterpene with NLRP3 Inhibitory Activity
Oridonin (or oridonine) is an active diterpene isolated from Rabdosia rubescens used as a traditional Chinese medicine. Oridonin has been reported to possess a broad range of biological activities including anti-inflammation, anti-bacterial, anti-neoplastic and neuroprotective effects. It has recently been reported that NLR family pyrin domain-containing protein 3 (NLRP3), a pattern recognition receptor, forms a complex called NLRP3 inflammasome in response to irritating metabolites and pathogens, and induces the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, Interleukin (IL)-1β and IL-18. Oridonin has also attracted attention as a NLRP3 inflammasome inhibitor which shows anti-inflammatory activity. (The product is for research purpose only.)
