(±)-Limonene: A Racemic Monocyclic Monoterpene with Antifungal and Antioxidant Activities
(±)-Limonene (DL-limonene) is a monocyclic monoterpene that has been found in various plant oil, and has antifungal and antioxidant activities. (±)-Limonene is a racemic compound, and the D-isomer ((+)-limonene, the (R)-enantiomer) [L0047] [L0105], occurring more commonly in various plant oil of citrus fruit peel as the fragrance of oranges, is used as a flavoring compound. In contrast, the L-isomer ((-)-limonene) [L0132] has a piny, turpentine-like odor. (The product is for research purpose only.)
