Application
Daunorubicin Hydrochloride: An Anthracycline Antitumor Antibiotic
Daunorubicin Hydrochloride, an anthracycline antitumor antibiotic, was first isolated from fermentation broths of Streptomyces peucetius in 1967. Daunorubicin interacts with DNA by intercalation that causes disruption of transcription and replication. Daunorubicin also forms a complex with DNA and the enzyme topoisomerase II which is essential enzyme for DNA replication. The complexation hinders religation and leads to tumor cell apoptosis. Daunorubicin is mainly used for acute myeloid leukemia. (The product is for research purpose only.)
