Creatine: A Key Amino Acid in Cellular Energy Buffering and Transport
Creatine (or its hydrate [C0396]) is an amino acid used in muscle and brain tissue for the production of high-energy phosphocreatine with adenosine triphosphate (ATP) [A0157 (Na salt)] catalyzed by creatine kinase (CK). The production system plays a key role in cellular energy buffering and energy transport, particularly in cells with high and fluctuating energy.
