Costunolide: A Sesquiterpene Lactone Embracing a Wide Spectrum of Biological Effects
Costunolide is a sesquiterpene lactone component isolated from many species of medicinal plants, such as Saussurea lappa Clarks (mokko), a Chinese medicinal herb1,2). Costunolide has been reported for its wide spectrum of biological effects, including anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antiviral, antimicrobial, antifungal, antioxidant, antidiabetic, antiulcer, and anthelmintic activities2,3).
