Application
Cantharidin: A Strong Inhibitor of Protein Phosphatases Types 1 (PP1) and 2A (PP2A)
Cantharidin is a toxic terpenoid compound in the blood of blister beetles. Cantharidin acts as a strong inhibitor of protein phosphatases types 1 (PP1) and 2A (PP2A) which are enzymes that remove a phosphate group from the phosphorylated amino acid residue of its substrate protein. Cantharidin has been used to reat warts and molluscum as a traditional medicine. Recently, several studies have demonstrated that cantharidin has anticancer, antibiotic, antivirus activities and immune-regulated functions. (The product is for research purpose only.)
