TCI Life Science News August 2021
| At TCI, we support discovery in life sciences through our knowledge and expertise in organic small molecules. In this issue we focus on our non-human type glyco-epitopes related reagents, cyanine-based near-infrared fluorochromes, infection research reagents, and an indicator nucleoside of DNA methylation. We also have thousands of other useful compounds available only at TCI for your research and development. |

Non-human Type Glyco-epitopes Related Reagents
The glycogenes lost in humans during evolution are maintained in cell host animals such as mice for biopharmacy production and animals such as xenotransplantation pigs. They show antigenicity to human bodies. The NeuGc and α1-3Gal glyco-epitopes are called non-human xenoantigen sugar chains. TCI offers the non-human type glyco-epitopes for research and analysis. Structure-defined high grade 2-AB labeled N-glycans produced by our chemical synthesis of oligosaccharides using various sugar building blocks. Please take advantage of our fluorescent-labeled products as a standard glycan for MS, CE and HPLC analyses. |

Cyanine-based Near-infrared Fluorochromes
Cyanine dyes have near infrared absorption. For instance, indocyanine green (ICG) is a cyanine dye with maximum absorption around 800 nm and is used as a diagnostic agent. In addition, various derivatives of ICG are being investigated as low toxicity, minimal invasive, and bio-imaging dyes. Alternatively, O0574 is a compound containing a carboxy group on the polymethine moiety of ICG. It is expected to be used as a material with characteristics that are close to but different from ICG, such as solubility and specific reactivity with biomolecules. TCI also offers C3693, a cyanine dye whose maximum absorption wavelength and maximum fluorescence wavelength are reported at 748 and 779 nm, respectively. |

Infection Research Reagents
TCI offers many experimental reagent and laboratory samples for the study of viral, microbial, and fungal infections. For examples, anti-influenza virus antibodies, antivirals, antibiotics, antiprotozoals, antimicrobials, antifungals are available. At TCI, we guarantee the purity and potency of these reagents to specifications. |

Indicator Nucleoside of DNA Methylation
Biological consequences of DNA methylation are indicators of epigenetic effects in plants and animals. 2’-Deoxy-5-methylcytidine [D3610], formed by the enzymatic methylation of cytosine residues in CpG (Cytosine-phosphate-Guanine) sites, is a minor component found in most eukaryotic DNA which plays a central role in the regulation of gene expression. Recently, methylation occurring by methyl radicals generated by tumor promoters has been reported. Oxidation of D3610 has been of interest in connection with the damage of DNA. In the detection of DNA methylation levels in cells, the DNA is hydrolyzed to nucleosides and D3610 is analyzed by HPLC and LC-MS. |
