Application
Febuxostat: A Non-Purine Selective Xanthine Oxidase (XO) Inhibitor
Febuxostat (TEI-6720) is a non-purine selective xanthine oxidase (XO) inhibitor. Uric acid [U0018] is the end product of purine metabolism in humans and is generated in the cascade of hypoxanthine [H0311] → xanthine [X0004] → uric acid. The both transformations are catalyzed by XO. Febuxostat is a XO inhibitor that significantly reduces uric acid levels in blood and urine. Therefore, in clinical, febuxostat is used for the treatment of hyperuricemia and gout. For your reference, [E1049] [E1394] and [E1414] are synthetic intermediates of febuxostat. (The product is for research purpose only.)
