Application
2-Arachidonylglycerol: An Endogenous Agonist of CB1 and CB2 Receptors
2-Arachidonylglycerol (2-AG) is an ester formed of arachidonic acid and glycerol, originally isolated from canine intestines.1) 2-AG an endocannabinoid that has been reported to act as an endogenous agonist of CB1 and CB2 receptors which are the primary molecular target responsible for the pharmacological effects of Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive ingredient in Cannabis sativa. The endogenous cannabinoid system (ECS) is comprised of CB1 and CB2 receptors, and modulates neuronal and immune cell function, both of which play key roles in pain. Therefore, therapeutics targeting this system hold promise as novel analgesics.2-6) (The product is for research purpose only.)
