Tetrahedral Aniline Derivative for the Synthesis of 3D Covalent Organic Frameworks (COFs)
Tetrakis(4-aminophenyl)methane (1) is utilized as a building block for the synthesis of 3-dimensional (3D) Covalent Organic Frameworks (COFs). Owing to its tetrahedral center, crystalline porous 3D frameworks with diamond like structures can be prepared using starting material 1 and aldehydes or carboxylic acid anhydrides. Beginning with a report from Yaghi et al., 1) several groups have synthesized numerous COFs with imino or imide groups which have large specific surface area and high thermal stabilities.2,3) COFs are anticipated to be applicable for gas storage and separation, and as a catalyst.
