Application
(S)-Naproxen: A Nonselective COX-1 and COX-2 Enzymes Inhibitor
(S)-Naproxen, a propionic acid derivative with a naphthalene nucleus, is a nonselective nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and the pharmacologically active enantiomer of (±)-naproxen [M1220]. (S)-Naproxen works by reversibly inhibiting both the COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes. It had twice the potency of (S)-(+)-ibuprofen [I0549] and a longer half-life (ca. 12 hours). (S)-naproxen is a more active form than the (R)-naproxen which causes liver damage. (The product is for research purpose only.)
