Application
Cefquinome sulfate: A Fourth-Generation Cephalosporin with High Cellular Penetration and a High Stability against beta-Lactamases
Cefquinome sulfate (HR 111V) is a fourth-generation cephalosporin, which has been used for veterinary antibiotic. Cefquinome acts by inhibition of cell wall synthesis, and shows potent bacteriostatic antibacterial activity against a broad spectrum of bacterial species, such as Staphylococcus aureus, streptococci, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and members of the family Enterobacteriaceae. Cefquinome is also active against any strains of methicillin-resistant staphylococci aureus (MRSA) and enterococci, but in vitro activity against gram-negative anaerobes is very limited. Cefquinome is susceptible to hydrolysis under basic condition, which limiting its employment efficacies to some extent. However, as a fourth generation cephalosporin, it combines high cellular penetration and a high stability against beta-lactamases. (The product is for research purpose only.)
