Application
Pranlukast: A Cysteinyl Leukotriene (Cys-LT) Receptor Antagonist
Pranlukast (ONO-1078) is a selective and competitive antagonist of the cysteinyl leukotriene receptor (Cys-LTR). Cysteinyl leukotrienes (Cys-LTs) LTC4, LTD4 and LTE4 are potent proinflammatory mediators derived from arachidonic acid [A0781] through the 5-lypoxigenase (5-LO) pathway. Cys-LTs induce pathophysiological responses such as potent bronchoconstriction, mucus secretion, mucosal edema, vascular hyperpermeability and eosinophil infiltration. Hence, Cys-LTs are important mediators of allergy and inflammation. (The product is for research purpose only.)
