Application
Pitavastatin Calcium: An HMG-CoA Reductase Inhibitor
Pitavastatin calcium (NK-104) is an inhibitor of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase, also known as "a statin". The reductase catalyzes the conversion of HMG-CoA to mevalonate, a rate-limiting step in the biosynthetic pathway for cholesterol in the liver. Pitavastatin, an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, inhibits cholesterol biosynthesis and reduces plasma triglyceride and total cholesterol levels in animals. (The product is for research purpose only.)
