Rutaecarpine: A Bioactive Indole Alkaloid Contained in Evodia rutaecarpa (Rutaceae)
Rutaecarpine is a bioactive indole alkaloid first isolated from Evodia rutaecarpa (Rutaceae) which is used as a traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases.1,2) Many studies indicate that rutaecarpine has biological effects such as inotropic, vasorelaxant, anti-platelet aggregation, and anti-inflammatory effects.2-4) In addition, rutaecarpine inhibits COX-1 and COX-2 activities.2,5) (The product is for research purpose only.)
