Prucalopride: A Selective Serotonin Type 4 (5-HT4) Receptor Agonist
Prucalopride, a dihydrobenzofuran-carboxamide derivative, is a selective serotonin type 4 (5-HT4) receptor agonist that stimulates colonic peristalsis, which increases bowel motility. It has been reported that prucalopride is devoid of effects mediated via other receptors in vitro (such as 5-HT1B, 5-HT1D, and 5-HT2B) that leading to adverse cardiovascular events. (The product is for research purpose only.)
