Carbenicillin Disodium: A Broad-Spectrum, Semisynthetic Penicillin Antibiotic used in Plant Transformation
Carbenicillin disodium is a broad-spectrum, semisynthetic penicillin antibiotic for Gram-negative bacteria including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and certain Gram-positive bacteria.1,2) It can interfere with cell wall synthesis while exhibiting low toxicity to plant tissues. Therefore, it commonly used for excluding Gram-negative bacteria Agrobacterium tumefaciens during plant transformation.3,4) (The product is for research purpose only.)
