Application
Perindopril Erbumine: A Long Acting Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) Inhibitor
Perindopril erbumine (S-9490-3) is an oral prodrug ester of perindoprilat, an inhibitor of angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE), which effectively lowers blood pressure. ACE catalyzes conversion of the inactive decapeptide, angiotensin I, to the vasoconstrictor, angiotensin II. Angiotensin II is a potent peripheral vasoconstrictor, which stimulates aldosterone secretion by the adrenal cortex, and provides on renin secretion. ACE inhibitors, such as perindopril occupy the active center of the enzyme so that cleavage of angiotensin I is inhibited competitively. (The product is for research purpose only.)
