Application
Metoclopramide: A Centrally Acting Dopamine D2 Receptor Antagonist
Metoclopramide is a centrally acting dopamine D2 receptor antagonist with antiemetic properties similar to those of domperidone [D4125]. Unlike domperidone, however, metoclopramide easily crosses the blood-brain barrier. Its antiemetic effect may be due to a combination of an antagonism of dopamine D2 and 5-HT3 receptors, and gastrokinetic effects by 5-HT4 receptor stimulants. (The product is for research purpose only.)
