A 83-01: A Potent Inhibitor of Activin Receptor-Like Kinase 4/5/7 (ALK4/5/7)
Transforming growth factor (TGF)-β signaling facilitates tumor growth and metastasis in advanced cancer. A 83-01 has been reported to be an inhibitor of TGF-β type I receptor kinase (ALK5), activing type IB receptor (ALK4), and nodal type I receptor (ALK7), respectively.1) Furthermore, A 83-01 has been used to reprogram fibroblasts into alternative lineages, such as cardiomyocyte-like cells.2) Therefor, A 83-01 is thought to affect stem cell differentiation and tumor progression in animal models.3)
