Budesonide: A Potent Glucocorticoid Receptor Antagonist

Budesonide is an anti-inflammatory corticosteroid that exhibits potent glucocorticoid activity and weak mineralocorticoid activity.1-6) Budesonide has a strong affinity for glucocorticoid receptor, and it is reported that budesonide has approximately 8.5-fold, 15-fold, and 195-fold greater than those of dexamethasone [D1961], prednisolone [P0637], and hydrocortisone [H0533], respectively.6) Budesonide is mainly metabolized by CYP3A4.6) (The product is for research purpose only.)
