Application
Zebularine: An Effective Inhibitor of DNA Methylation
The main epigenetic modification is DNA methylation, and patterns of aberrant DNA methylation are now recognized to be a common hallmark of tumor cells. Zebularine, which is structurally 4-deamino cytidine, is a recently discovered mechanism-based inhibitor of DNA methylation. It is an effective inhibitor of cytidine deaminase and DNA cytosine methyltransferase.
