Application
Biapenem: A Carbapenem Antibacterial Agent against Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Biapenem (LJC 10627) is a carbapenem antibacterial agent that has antibacterial and fungicidal activity against a wide range of Gram-positive and -negative bacteria, including species producing β-lactamases. Biapenem also has activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa which isolates with broad-spectrum insusceptibility to penicillins and cephalosporins. Biapenem inhibits murein biosynthesis which is needed by bacteria to make their cell walls. In addition, biapenem is more stable than meropenem [M2279] to metabolic hydrolysis by human renal dihydropeptidase-I (DHP-I). (The product is for research purpose only.)
