Application
AlkylFluorTM: Stable Reagent for Deoxyfluorination of Primary and Secondary Alcohols
Experimental procedure: An oven-dried vial is charged with potassium fluoride (58.1 mg, 1.00 mmol, 5.00 eq.) and AlkylFluor (118.7 mg, 0.240 mmol, 1.20 eq.), and heated at 100 °C for 1 h under vacuum (~0.1 mbar). The mixture is cooled to room temperature, then alcohol (0.200 mmol, 1.00 eq.) is added quickly. The vial is sealed, then evacuated and backfilled with nitrogen. Dioxane (3 mL) is added and the reaction mixture is heated at the appropriate temperature with vigorous stirring. Upon completion, the reaction mixture is cooled to room temperature and filtered through a pad of Celite, eluting with dichloromethane (3 × 1 mL). The filtrate is concentrated in vacuo and the residue is purified by flash column chromatography to afford the desired alkyl fluoride.
